General conditions and guarantees

ADK is a private concern. We are members of fadaf (Fachverbandes für Deutsch als Fremdsprache) and a certified school (CertIT), accredited by the Bundesamt. Course applicants in our Intensive courses must be 16 years or over, 12 years in summer courses. One "teaching hour" lasts 45 minutes. Classes do not take place on bank holidays. No reimbursement will be made for tuition which is missed due to the student’s own actions. Arrival is usually on Sunday before the course starts, departure on Saturday. In private accommodation, your room is available to you from Sunday to Saturday. All students must bbok their holiday at least 7 days in advance. Classes cannot be changed mid-week. Please note that you can only change class if there is a space in the class into which you wish to transfer. ADK reserves the right to change any teacher, timetable and/or classroom location and to combine classes if necessary. The school reserves the right to remove students from the class register if their attendance is not satisfactory. All students are expected to behave in an orderly manner. Wilful damage to our property or threatening behaviour to our staff will lead to expulsion from our school. Expelled students will be held personally responsible, no refund of fees will be made.

Audiorecording of lessons at ADK is prohibited!

Service description

Course fees include tuition as booked, placement test, interim exams, certificate, personal all-round service and the tuition material provided and designed by our teachers. Books are not included in the price can be bought or borrowed in our office. Fees are not transferable to any other students under any circumstances.

Registration

To enrol on a course please use our online registration. You can send us the completed form either online or by fax. We will confirm your registration within 24 hours, generally by email. As part of this confirmation, we will request the transfer of an initial payment of € 100 which should be completed within the next 10 days. This initial payment will be deducted from your final account. In the case of a last minute booking (up to 2 days before the course start date), an individual arrangement will be agreed upon with ADK.  As soon as we have received the initial payment of €100, your reservation is confirmed. The initial payment serves as a deposit for your booking. If you would like to minimise the risk of losing this sum due to a possible cancellation, we recommend that you draw out a travel cancellation insurance.

With your application you accept the terms and conditions of ADK.  The application is legally valid and you are bound by this contract to pay the course fees. Course fees are exclusive of VAT.

Bank holidays

Please note: Classes do not take place on German bank holidays.

Cancellations /Booking Changes

Unless otherwise arranged, the following charges apply in the case of a cancellation:

• up to 14 days before the course start date: you can either postpone your course to a more convenient date at no charge or you will be required to pay 25% of the course fees and accommodation costs
• 14-7 days before the course start date: 30% of the course fees and accommodation costs will be charged.
• up to 7 days before the course start date: 60% of the course fees and accommodation costs will be charged.

• No cancellation or refund is possible after the course starts

If a Visa is refused by the Home Office or Embassy: all fees received, less than € 40,- handling fee, will be refunded. The student will have to show the original letter of refusal from the Embassy / Home Office.

Certificate

After successful participation every student will receive at the end of the course our ADK-certificate. If a students fails (e.g. irregular attendance) we only issue a letter of confirmation.

Payment - How can I pay for my language programme in full?

As soon as you have received the invoice and course confirmation, the following options are available to you for the payment of the full course fee and accommodation costs. Payment in advance by bank transfer to the previously mentioned account. Payment in cash on the first day of the course. On request we accept payment in instalments. If you have booked a room in a shared students apartment, a hotel room or a private apartment, these costs should be paid directly.

Liabilty

Please understand that ADK cannot be held financially responsible for unforeseen catastrophes or for personal or health problems. You must accept liability for any damage you may cause in the school, in the accommodation or to the property of the landlord. The school cannot be made liable for the loss of personal property. If you participate in leisure activities offered by ADK you do so at your own personal risk. The school or any private person working for the school cannot be made liable for accidents or damage of personal property. We therefore strongly recommend that you make your own insurance arrangements. If you are non EU-citizen and need health insurance we will be glad to help you in this matter. Any liability for misprints excluded. Misprints and errors excepted.

Disabilities / Illness

Our premises are not suitable for clients in wheelchairs. We try to help students with some difficulties with their sight or their hearing but our courses are probably not suitable for the totally blind or deaf. Please contact us if you need special arrangements. If you are dyslexic it is very helpful if you can tell us in advance. Please note that we do not have the staff or the facilities to accept clients with significant mental health problems and we strongly advise clienrs - or their parents - to tell us before enrolling anyone who has a history of mental health problems or is on medication!

Jurisdiction

The agreement is construed in accordance with and is subject to German law. Place of fulfilment is Augsburg, Germany. Place of jurisdiction is Augsburg, Germany.
